چکیده

Doxorubicin as a chemotherapy agent is most widely used in cancer treatment. Long-term use at predetermined dose has side effect, namely cardiotoxicity. Doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity considered to be caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS), which also characterized increasing CK-MB enzyme levels the blood. To reduce impact of doxorubin-induced toxicity, study was conducted on natural antioxidant sources with cardioprotective capabilities vivo. Phyllanthus emblica L. fruit sample for source antioxidants extracted using ethanol. Then performed phytochemical screening secondary metabolites contained it. This extract administered orally various doses experimental animal Wistar rats and induced doxorubicin these animals. The were measured, heart organ histopathology test performed. results this indicate that P. contains alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, terpenoids, phenolics, triterpenoids compounds. Protective Effects of Lycopene and Tomato Extract Against Doxorubicin-Induced Cardiotoxicity

The protective effect of tomato extract and lycopene on acute doxorubicin-induced myocardial toxicity was evaluated in mice. Doxorubicin toxicity, induced by a single intraperitoneal injection (15 mg/kg), was revealed by elevated serum CPKMB and histopathological observations. Tomato extract (1.2 and 2.4 g/kg, i.p.) and lycopene (1.7 and 3.5 mg/kg, i.p.), prevented the rise in serum CPKM...

Protective Role of Adansonia digitata Extract Against Glyphosate-induced Hepatorenal Toxicity in Adult Male Wistar Rats

Background: Glyphosate is the most widely used herbicide, and it poses numerous health risks to the environment and living organisms. This study aimed at assessing the protective role of Adansonia digitata (A. digitata) on glyphosate-induced hepatorenal toxicity in a Wistar rat model. Methods: Twenty-five rats were randomly divided into five groups of five animals each. The first group did not...

Cardioprotective effect of Crataegus aronia syn. Azarolus (L) Aqueous Extract Against Doxorubicin-Induced Cardiotoxicity and Heart Failure in Wistar Rats

We examined whether Crataegus aronia (C. aronia) can ameliorate Doxirubicin (DOX) induced cardiotoxicity in rats. Six groups of Wistar rats were divided as: Group I: a control group (administered saline); Group II: administered aqueous extract of C. aronia alone; Group III: administered DOX alone; Group IV: administered concomitant doses of both DOX and C. aronia; Group V: administered DOX firs...

In Vivo Protective Effects of Diosgenin against Doxorubicin-Induced Cardiotoxicity

Doxorubicin (DOX) induces oxidative stress leading to cardiotoxicity. Diosgenin, a steroidal saponin of Dioscorea opposita, has been reported to have antioxidant activity. Our study was aimed to find out the protective effect of diosgenin against DOX-induced cardiotoxicity in mice. DOX treatment led to a significant decrease in the ratio of heart weight to body weight, and increases in the bloo...
